Everyone is Wired

I’ve found this to be true over and over again.

As someone drawn to perfection, beauty, and elegance, I’ve often found myself naturally gravitating toward people who exude an air of flawlessness. But, it never fails to surprise me when I discover the unique quirks and peculiar traits hidden beneath those polished exteriors.

It seems, in fact, that the more someone initially presents themselves as well put-together, the more weird they reveal themselves to be over time. This realization has left me somewhat cynical about those who project perfection. In my mind, the extra effort to maintain a flawless facade often indicates an attempt to compensate for something.

Perfection is a good ideal to work towards, yet nobody is perfect. Behind every polished facade lies a myriad of idiosyncrasies waiting to be discovered. So why try to hide it in the first place?

Maybe because everyone else appears perfect we try to keep up to avoid being seen as strange or abnormal. But who’s to say what’s normal anyway?

It’s easy to feel inadequate when everyone else around you is projecting themselves as impeccable. But I think it’s important to remind ourselves that true beauty lies in our imperfections, in the quirks and oddities that make us who we are.

Nonetheless, don’t let anyone bully you into thinking that you’re any more weird than they are because, in my experience, it’s often the other way around. Everyone is weird, some are just better at hiding it.
